What made you choose this degree programme?

I was particularly impressed by the fact that you can choose from both areas - core computer science and IT security. You can also influence (at least a little) how theoretical or application-oriented you want your degree programme to be.

In which respect have or haven’t your expectations been fulfilled?

The degree programme gives me the opportunity to try out different specialisations. This allows me to learn a lot from the field of IT security without having to give up core computer science. However, you have to bear in mind that some specialisations are much more extensive than others. Computer Security, for example, has significantly more options than Software Engineering. However, if you do not want to choose a particular specialisation, this is not a major problem and there is plenty to pick from.

Which aspect of your degree programme do you enjoy most?

I'm not a big fan of simple memorisation. In the Master's programme Computer Science, I can plan my subjects to ensure that I have a good mix of theory and application subjects. In addition to studying, the student councils also organise events such as trips and game nights. This helps a lot when it comes to networking with other students.

What has been your biggest challenge to date?

For me, the biggest challenge during my studies was definitely time management. Especially with time-intensive subjects such as cryptography and software security, I realised how important it is to structure study times and tasks well. Some courses were very demanding from a technical point of view, but that's also motivating.

What would you like to become after completing your degree?

I haven't quite decided yet, but I'm currently leaning towards working in the industry. With a degree in computer science, you have a lot of options, especially with a Master's degree, but that also makes the choice harder.

Which advice would you like to give to students who consider enrolling in this degree programme?

I can definitely recommend planning your studies thoroughly beforehand. And it wouldn't hurt to read the examination regulations (at least the important parts). In case you have any questions: Don't hesitate to contact the student advisory service!
